Everyone is selling and negotiating, all the time.
If you don’t like the word sales,
replace it with Persuasion.
Even as you are reading
this post right now,
you have “sold” the idea
to your inner critic that
reading this post will make your life better
and you will miss out on
an important aspect of intentional living
if you ignore this post
(thanks for reading btw)
We are always persuading people to do things our way
either they should do it
or we should be allowed to.
Would you agree?
As a businessman,
you would like to convince
your prospective customer
that your product or service is the best.
As a person appearing in an interview,
you would like to convince
your prospective employer
that you are the best choice.
As a student applying for a college,
you would like to convince
your prospective college
that you are the best choice.
As a person applying for marriage (lol),
you would like to convince
your prospective spouse
that you are the best choice.
And in all these interactions,
we want to show
how good or great we are and
how bad or inferior,
the other choices are.
All of them suffer from a serious misunderstanding of the situation.
See my Video (with subtitles) for what Marc Andreesen says is the right approach
Sales or persuasion is
about understanding
what the other person needs or wants
and giving them that
in full and all the time.
It’s not about drumming up your features or benefits

Whom are you persuading and about what?
Do you know their needs and wants, really well?
Like really?
