“I don’t have any problems, my life is great”
Let’s rewind the past 5 mins in the head
(grrggsgggeee tape rewinds)
“Why is this car racing past me?
Idiots don’t know how to drive in this city.
And why is signal taking so much time?
I don’t like waiting. I am going to be late for the meeting.
Why do they keep calling meetings?
And what am I going to say there?
When will the presentation deck get ready?
And today, my clothes also were not pressed?
Laundry guy did not turn up. So irresponsible.
This weekend I need to buy shirts, where should I go?
Last time, X store was a disaster, I will shop online but what if…..”
That’s just past 5 mins
so many problems
“Are you kidding me?
those are not problems, those are thoughts.
Problems are like world peace or cure to cancer,
this is daily stuff.
Chill”
And how is your mental state after all those thoughts?
are you happy and joyous?
“(Silence)”
Whenever we think something in our mind which ends in a question, the mind has to race to solve it
That’s how we are wired
Have you been next to a 2-3 yr old recently?
did you notice how many questions they had?
how relentless they are?
Chances are you were like this too
when you were younger
Somewhere down the path of adulthood
irritation replaced curiosity
“I Wonder why”
changed to
“Why is it not as I want”
And then everything became a problem
which needs “fixing”
and the mind races to “fix” everything
Before we can reach the
Zen state of total acceptance
Start with taking
only one problem at a time
Ask yourself
Is this a problem worth solving?
Is this a problem
I need to solve right now?
If yes, to both,
then dedicate the next 1 hour
totally to that
Make it your dharma
and keep every other
“Problems” at bay
And then next
share in comments
Today,
What problem is worth solving
and the right one for now?
