Quite often, we get stuck into the moment.
“How could I do this?”
“I knew I could do it and
now I have blown it.”
“I have failed and
I will always be a failure.
I can never do anything right”
Some of these are
voices from the past in our childhood
which rear its head today
when we make a mistake
It’s not just a mistake,
now we make it an identity issue
like I can never succeed or
I am a failure
These ruminations make
us stuck in the past and
ignore this important fact:
More we are stuck in the past,
the farther we are left behind
from the unrealized limitless future
Right now,
in this very moment,
the future is being created.
The need is to refocus
on the present and
treat every moment coming up
as an opportunity to do our best
and become the best version of our self
The past may have
lessons for us to learn however
it is the practice in the present
which unlocks the gifts of the future
As Richard Branson says
“Opportunities are like buses.
If you miss one,
there is always another around the corner”
That’s how he reframed his failures
See my Video for how the famous golfer Michelle Wie and Tennis champion Andre Agassi reframed their mistakes and refocused their attention of the moment
Don’t be shaped by the past,
Be guided by the future
Today
How will you refocus your attention when you fail or make a mistake?
