“I love to struggle all my life.
I feel uneasy if my day does not start with some kind of struggle”
What would you say about such a person?
“Idiot! Take some from me
if you are feeling less. Ha!”
“Create your own struggles in life
Joe Rogan on Aubrey Marcus podcast
(like an intense physical exercise)
to minimize life’s daily, acute struggles”
If we look back to our past and
remember situations when you struggled,
faced obstacles, faced resistance
then at that time,
you would not have liked it
Tell me, hand on your heart,
now you look back and feel
a little tougher, little wiser, more resolved
from that experience
In fact, you might catch yourself saying
“Thank god, I went through that
as I know how to handle
that situation better now”
This is hard to accept but it’s true
“People need a certain amount of conflict and
a certain amount of struggle and
they create that struggle
if they don’t get it
in some sort of an organic form”
This is from the same podcast interview
This does not mean we all are closet masochists
(well some are)
what it means is that adversity, struggle, resistance
whatever you call it
is like a fire which forges the sword of our will
the inner steel which we all carry
gets stronger and sharper
to bear the daily vicissitudes
a little better, a little wiser, a little calmer
Create a daily, preferably early morning
regimen of struggle
as Yoga would call it “Tapa”
to forge your inner steel
