How Do I Measure a Good Life?

(rrrrrngggg goes off the alarm clock)
how do you get up?
Pick up the alarm clock and
throw it across the room

OR

Stretch your arms and legs in
all different directions and then
with a jolt of fear,
realize you are late and
fall off the bed

OR

Wake up refreshed and
excited, looking forward
to another day of
taking action to
fulfil your purpose
your mission
your dharma?

Tim Ferris (in conversation with Scott Adams) says that

how excited you get up is
an important metric of
how well you are living your life

Scott Adams advises that everyone have at least
one personal project they’re working on
that truly excites them

How you get up from the bed
sets the tone for your day

If you wake up with dread then
the day is going to be either dreary or dreadful

If you are all excited for the day then
the day is going to something you will look forward to
and will be full of curiosity and fulfilment

This does not mean we fake our feeling and
“fake it till we make it” (terrible advice btw)

for us to be excited that means
we need to genuinely have something exciting
something meaningful
something which fulfils us
in the day

That means understanding your purpose
and being driven by your purpose

So next time you have to get up from the bed

Make an appointment with your purpose
